So you start with the $5 bet (1+4). If you lose, you put 5 at the end of the sequence. Now you have 1-2-3-4-5 meaning your next bet is going to be $6 (1+5). If you win, you cross two numbers you used out of the sequence. If you have only one number left, you simply bet it without adding anything.
